I feel like recently I have been submerging myself into the 60’s. And I’m loving it! In college I took a pretty intense Honor’s 6 credit course on the 60’s. It was definitely one of the hardest, most freeing and creative classes I’ve ever taken. It was quite amazing, so from time to time I feel myself sinking back into that time period and the feelings surrounding it. A lot of credit goes to my parents too. I would often wake up on a Saturday morning to the sound of The Beatles blaring through the house and the smell of bacon. Considering the fact that they went to a Bob Dylan & Willie Nelson concert several years back, I think it’s fair game to assume that they grew up in the 60’s.
I just finished the Martin Scorsese documentary “No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.” It was fantastic to say the least. As an avid lover of words in any form, Dylan and his writing are almost untouchable. Brilliant, brilliant… About 5 years ago I read his book “Chronicles: Volume 1” and was blown away. It is beautifully written, the type of book that you read with a highlighter in hand.
I was recently given the Amnesty International album, “Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan” and it is great! I would like to go sit with blank paper right now and just write :)
